Latest news !

We currently have an extensive waiting list of prospective new members, so we will not be accepting any new air weapon membership requests, until further notice.
ABOUT
Found at the far eastern side of the county of Kent, we are located on the 'Isle of Thanet'. The Ramsgate & Dover Rifle Club is at the edge of the island, in a corner of The King George VI Memorial Park. You can find this on the cliff top between Winterstoke Gardens (Ramsgate) and Dumpton Gap (Broadstairs).

The Club is within a few hundred yards of the cliff top, overlooking the northern end of the English Channel. The range orientation is west to east. The local micro-climate means shooting is often subject to the local weather conditions, this can include very bright sunrises, strong coastal winds and sometimes a thick rolling sea fog!

We are only a small Club; currently around 50 members, of all ages and skill levels. We shoot Air Rifle, Air Pistol, .22lr Smallbore Target Rifle, .22lr Smallbore Sporting Rifle and CO2 Pistol. We also shoot fullbore rifle at external ranges, such as Hythe and Bisley.

PLEASE NOTE:

We do not offer 'taster sessions' and we do not hire out the range facilities to non-members. For reasons of safety and security, we are not open to casual visitors. All prospective new members must successfully complete a supervised training course (usually taking place on Sunday mornings).

Air Rifle shooting
The Club's air weapons range currently consists of 5 firing points, situated in a dedicated building. The paper targets are located outdoors, at various distances.

The disciplines available to members include:

10m air-rifle shot from the standing position, using a rifle fitted with iron-sights (dioptre sights).

20yd air-rifle shot from the standing position using a pre-charged (PCP) rifle fitted with a telescopic sight.

25yd air-rifle shot from the seated position using a pre-charged (PCP) air rifle fitted with a telescopic sight. This distance is also shot using 'springer' air rifles (spring powered rifles, cocked using an 'underlever'). The rifle is shot 'off elbows' or from a 'front rest' or a 'bipod'.

50yd air-rifle shot from the seated position using a pre-charged (PCP) rifle fitted with a telescopic sight. The rifle is shot using a 'front rest' or a 'bipod'.

The Club runs it's own internal competitions, as well as participating in external 'postal' competitions.
Air Pistol shooting
Using the same range as the Air Rifle shooting.

The disciplines available to members include:

10m air-pistol shot from the standing using a pistol fitted with open-sights.

20yd air-pistol shot from the standing using a pistol fitted with open-sights.

Members may use either PCP or pneumatic pistols.

The Club runs it's own internal competitions, as well as participating in external 'postal' competitions.
CO2 Pistol
The CO2 Pistol shooters have a dedicated 'speed shoot' range. The three firing point range offers paper targets positions at 10m and 20yds, as well as steel plates.

As the target positions are of steel plate construction, ALL CO2 pistols must be .177 calibre and firing only air pellets.

The use of BB's is NOT PERMITTED.
.22lr Smallbore Target Rifle shooting
Shot on a sloping downhill range, that was built in to an existing cutting in the chalk.

The range offers shooting distances of 25yds, 50m and 100yds, with the shooter in a dedicated five firing point shooting hut.

The .22lr smallbore rifles used are single-shot bolt action rifles, fitted with iron-sight (dioptre sights). There is the option of shooting target rifle 'Anysights', using target rifles fitted with a telescopic sight.

Shooters may use either 'prone' or 'seated' shooting positions.

The Club runs it's own internal competitions, as well as participating in external 'postal' competitions.
.22lr Smallbore Sporting Rifle shooting
Shot on the same range as smallbore target rifle.

The range offers shooting distances of 25yds, 50m and 100yds, with the shooter in a dedicated five firing point shooting hut.

The .22lr smallbore rifles used are magazine-fed, single-shot, bolt action rifles, fitted with telescopic sights and a bipod. Range rules state that a sound moderator must be fitted to the rifle. Ammunition must be sub-sonic, so high velocity/supersonic ammunition is not permitted.

Shooters may use either 'prone' or 'seated' shooting positions.

The Club runs it's own internal competitions, as well as participating in external 'postal' competitions.
